The E-Z-GO® Legacy

To reach the beginning of E-Z-GO, we have to time travel back to 1954, when Sports Illustrated released its first issue and Veteran’s Day was first established to honor all our heroes. It’s also when two brothers opened a machine shop with the intent to build a better golf cart, a goal they accomplished in record time. Their design quickly gained popularity among consumers in the area and beyond, which soon incentivized them to expand their product lines to include other personal transportation vehicles. 

In 1960, they became part of Textron Inc., a conglomerate committed to preventing and reducing pollution with more environmentally friendly building practices. This trickled down to E-Z-GO, who began building with a healthier, cleaner environment in mind. 

Today’s models are owned by the Textron Specialized Vehicle division, producing tens of thousands of motorized products every year with innovative technologies and increasingly impressive performance features. Improvements like a parking brake that engages automatically when you come to a stop helped earn them the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence in 2009, as well as a place on Industry Week magazine’s top ten manufacturing plants in North America.
